Cross Country Healthcare Travel Nurses Complete Fourth Mission Trip to Ecuador

BOCA RATON, Fla., Oct. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Cross Country Healthcare, Inc. (NASDAQ: CCRN) proudly partnered with Project Perfect World Foundation (PPW) for a fourth charitable medical mission trip to Guayaquil, Ecuador. The mission took place during the week of October 8 - 16, 2016 and was attended by two Cross Country Healthcare RNs, Brenda Duncan and Paula Zito.

Cross Country Healthcare Chief Clinical Officer Hank Drummond, PhD, MDiv, BA, RN, presents Cross Country Healthcare travel nurse Brenda Zito with the Daisy Award for her work during the 2016 Project Perfect World medical mission trip to Guayaquil, Ecuador.

PPW has a long working relationship with Roberto Gilbert Hospital in Guayaquil, the leading Pediatric Hospital in Ecuador. Returning consistently to this facility has allowed PPW and its skilled team of healthcare professionals to develop a strong spine and general orthopedics program, and share their expertise and train the Ecuadorian surgeons in the latest surgical techniques. During this latest trip, Brenda and Paula assisted with 20 life changing surgeries and helped more than 200 kids in the orthotics clinic, fitting them with custom braces. Overall, an amazing success!

Upon her return from the medical mission trip, Brenda addressed a room full of Cross Country Healthcare employees during a welcome-home event.  She spoke at length about how proud she was to represent Cross Country in Guayaquil. Operations like the ones performed during the mission are often taken for granted in first-world countries, but in Ecuador, a child whose family cannot afford a procedure may face adversities growing up, including continued health issues and society pressures.

To recognize Brenda's dedication, compassion and service, Wendi Dusseault, Executive Vice President of Cross Country Staffing, and Hank Drummond, PhD, MDiv, BA, RN, Chief Clinical Officer of Cross Country Healthcare, presented her with the Daisy Award. Hank said to the teary-eyed gathering, "The Daisy Award is presented to those nurses who have made a significant impact in the life of a patient and who are outstanding role models for the nursing profession."  Gesturing toward Brenda he added, "You exemplify that and so much more - we are so proud and honored to have you represent our organization!"

William Grubbs, President and CEO of Cross Country Healthcare, added, "As a leader in quality healthcare staffing, we want to remind everyone associated with Cross Country Healthcare why quality is so important in everything that we do.  Ultimately, we work for the patients who are in need of care.  We were very proud to once again be a part of such an important endeavor and we were equally as proud to have Brenda and Paula represent our commitment to providing quality care."
