BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Cross Country Healthcare, Inc. (NASDAQ: CCRN) today announced it is
scheduled to appear in front of the House of Representatives for the
State of Florida. Henry ‘Hank' Drummond, PhD, MDiv, BA, RN, Chief
Clinical Officer for Cross Country Healthcare, will be in Tallahassee on
December 1, 2015 to present the case for Florida to join the Nurse
Licensure Compact.
Currently, 25 states are part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, which
allows nurses to have one multistate license, with the ability to
practice in both their home state and other compact states. As a subject
matter expert, Mr. Drummond explains, "Because Florida is a ‘snowbird
state,' we see large patient-census fluctuations in our hospitals and
healthcare systems. Joining the Nurse Licensure Compact would remove
barriers to bringing in temporary nurse staffing. This will alleviate
the burden that the uptick in patients puts on full-time, permanent
staff." In addition, as noted by the National Council of State Boards of
Nursing Inc., there is a big benefit to public protection because states
in the compact are able to share more completely, more fully and more
timely information about nurses holding a compact license."
The Florida House of Representatives will put to vote the possibility of
Florida joining the Nurse Licensure Compact. William J. Grubbs,
President and Chief Executive Officer of Cross Country Healthcare
states, "I am pleased to have Mr. Drummond represent not only Cross
Country Healthcare, but the State of Florida as a whole, in this review
of the matter to join the Nurse License Compact. Patient safety and
quality patient care is our ultimate focus when we put nurses and other
healthcare professionals to work. The Nurse Licensure Compact can only
result in positive changes in this area."
