healthcare staffing services, announced today it will co-ring the Nasdaq
closing bell on Friday, May 8, 2009, in a joint ceremony to celebrate
National Nurses Week 2009.
Joseph A Boshart, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cross Country
Healthcare, will ring the closing bell at 4:00 p.m. Joining him at the
NASDAQ MarketSite on Times Square will be Franklin Shaffer, EdD, RN,
FAAN, the Company’s Chief Nursing Officer who has been a Registered
Nurse for more than 40 years, along with six Cross Country RNs currently
on travel assignments at area hospitals in New York City.
Mr. Boshart’s brief remarks will recognize the skills, compassion and
tireless commitment of the nearly 3 million registered nurses in this
country and their efforts to help build a healthy America – one patient
at a time.
Sharing the Nasdaq balcony to ring the closing bell will be Dorrie
Fontaine, RN, PhD, FAAN, Sadie Heath Cabaniss Professor of Nursing and
Dean of the University of Virginia School of Nursing.
In addition to the closing bell ceremony and Mr. Boshart’s remarks, a
Cross Country Healthcare video designed to celebrate the people who
deliver nursing care will play on the NASDAQ MarketSite Tower at Times
Square, the world’s largest stationary video screen. Beginning at 3:50

Nurses Week is celebrated annually throughout the United States from May
6-12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern
